Should I trade in perfectly good cablecards at Comcast's request?

Got this request from Comcast. Any reason I should bother?

I got the same email today. I'm left scratching my head since my cable card does not give me access to Xfinity On Demand content with Channels DVR already so I don't see the need.
I believe it is just an attempt to grab more rental equipment income. I was not even able to see On Demand options with the HDHomerun app unless I'm doing something wrong.

Really if I'm going to watch On Demand it's going to be Netflix or Tubi etc.

Comcast is shutting down On Demand services on all non-X1 devices, so anyone showing non-X1 devices on their account will get this message. With the FCC removing requirements to support Cable Cards, the most you'll see happening is channels disappearing from your lineup as they get switched over from QAM to IP-based channels. I don't see Cable Cards having much life left with everything migrating to stream-like services (X1 or Xfinity Stream app).

Cable cards and Prime units never supported on demand anyway. I have X1 and 2 Primes with Cable Cards ... Had the Primes for about 10 years and still going strong. If and when they stop broadcasting over Cable Cards, I will have no use for any DVR subscriptions..

When I Switched to X1 it did not affect my Cable Cards ... still worked seamlessly.

Did anyone get a similar email from Spectrum that you'd be willing to share, indicating the coming end of cablecard support?

The letter above does not say anything about Cable Card I got a similar letter before They switched me to X1 it did not affect my Cable Cards at all. All I had to do was once they shipped me my new box I shipped the old one back.

I guess I must have been confused by the title of the thread suggesting a swap from a cablecard system to something without a cablecard.

In any event, have any Charter/Spectrum customers received a letter suggesting they will no longer support cablecards? I'm just curious how much longer we will be able to keep using them. Spectrum wanted to swap out my cablecard with what seemed to be their own streaming box at every television.

Sorry, the serial numbers listed belong to my cablecards. I wasn't sure if I should post them publicly so replaced them with # 's.

Tivos with cable cards had XOD app, but it went away years ago.

We used the Xfinity streaming app for VOD after that with no issues (except for an occasional modem reboot because authentication would fail somehow). That app stayed in 'beta' forever, Lol.

That email has nothing to do with cable card support in other words, they're just trying to get you to switch to X1 again.

I got the same thing but the only thing when I went to replace was my one and only Cable box not the Cablecards. So Cable cards were not included on their site to be replaced. The X1 box we have ow is very slow,
