“Show Stats” Screen Question

Is there any documentation available for this screen? (Looked but did not find any.)

I am pretty familiar with the fields I have seen so far on this screen. Recently, a new field appeared in the “File” section, called “Buffering Pauses”. Could someone explain what triggers the incrementing of this variable? (I have a theory but prefer to have facts.)

Also, is this variable related to things happening on the HDHR tuner or the media playback device where the Channels app is running?

I am using the Channels app for live TV (no DVR).

Thanks!

It is counting the number of times the Player goes from the PLAYING to the BUFFERING state. It's mostly helpful for us developers to see how the player is behaving in different difficult streaming situations.

Thanks.

Is this state change triggered by lack of program stream info arriving over the network from (in my setup) the HDHR tuner?

If so, is there any additional status information available in the Channels player app or elsewhere (eg a log on the tuner) that tells me why the tuner may have stopped sending data?

In my case, I typically only see this variable on one station when the tuner’s reception metrics show problems receiving the OTA signal (eg poor SNR [quality], poor symbol quality). I am interested if the tuner also loses OTA 8VSB lock in my specific case. Any way to tell?

HDHR tuner and media playback device running Channels app connected via Gbit Ethernet.

Thanks again.

The only reason it would have stopped sending data is if the tuner had stopped receiving data (which would be a reception issue).

You can open the HDHR web interface and look at the tuner stats there. Beyond that, you'll need to reach out to SiliconDust to dig into that further.

Thanks for your replies. Will contact SD to see if they have any additional suggestions.
