Shutting down Channels Server while I do some work on my MAC

I read this: >>Hmm, to replace it with a symlink I need to remove it. As soon as I remove it it gets recreated. Thus trying to stop it. Interesting that uninstall is the same as stop. Will try it...<<

Is that really the way to shutdown the channels DVR for a bit? I have to "uninstall" it. Does that really uninstall and and we lose settings and such? -Bill

How about something like launchctl stop com.getchannels.dvr?

Yes run the uninstall script to stop.

It won't delete any settings

Will I need to "reinstall" it to get it back running? MAC's just seem so backwards...

Yea. I don't understand why you need to stop it but that's how you do it.

I was moving files from a NAS to a newly installed local drive on the Mac and it was going extremely slow as Channels was pointing at the NAS for all its work. Turning the server off made the file copy twice as fast.so (5 TB of shows) I'm wondering if unchecking the "Server Enabled" box under basic settings would have done the same thing?? -Bill

Yes
