I can’t quite put my finger on this one, but I’ve noticed it enough, I wanted to mention it.
Sometimes when I’m watching a recording, I’ll click on the right side of the touch pad to skip ahead. Then I’ll click ahead to skip ahead some more, and so on, until I get to where I want to be.
The first click always works. After that, subsequent clicks may not actually skip ahead. Visually it seems the same, and the audio drops for a moment like it skipped ahead, but then you notice you’re hearing the same dialog as a moment before, so it didn’t actually skip ahead.
A few observations about it:
- I believe I’ve only seen this while watching a recording that is still actually recording. I don’t think I’ve seen it happen with recordings that have completed.
- I’m positive I’m not double-clicking (like you do to skip commercials). I’ve tried slowing down to the point where the playhead overlay disappears, then clicking, and the behavior is the same.
- Slowing down further between clicks will always work, but is annoying.
