Slow fast forward

I have recently noticed that when I try to skip forward or backwards in the timeline on a recorded program, Channels is not very responsive. The skipping along the timeline is rather slow and not smooth jumping incrementally forward or backwards. Playback itself is fine. This is only happening on one of my TV's, a 2022 model Sony OLED TV. My older Sony OLED TV and my Nvidia Shield clients work perfectly fine, so I'm not sure what is different on the newer OLED that is causing this behavior.

It isn't a huge deal, since playback and all other navigation still works fine, but it has been a minor annoyance. Does anyone know what could be causing this and/or how to resolve it?

This has been annoying me for quite some time now. You have prompted me to do a little investigating.

I have a Sony X90L and also have a Shield Pro attached to the TV. Out of convenience, I normally run the Channels client on the TV and experience the same unresponsiveness that you describe. I tried several scenarios.

Channels running on TV using Sony remote - unresponsive
Channels running on TV using Harmony phone app - unresponsive
Channels running on Shield using Sony remote via CEC - unresponsive
Channels running on Shield controlled through TV (CEC) with Harmony app - unresponsive
Channels running on Shield using Shield remote - beautiful
Channels running on Shield using Harmony phone app to control Shield directly - beautiful

I normally use Projectivy launcher on the TV with Accessibility enabled. This causes a known issue with volume control on the TV. For the purpose of this test, I disabled Projectivy and Accessibility.

The Harmony hub is connected to the IR input on the TV via a cable. The Harmony hub directly controls the Shield via Bluetooth.

I think the blame for this problem lies squarely with the TV.

Very interesting analysis. My TV is a Sony A90K, so a similar model to your X90L. Strangely though, my 7 year old Sony A9F OLED has none of these same issues. I wonder what it is about the newer models that is causing this problem. Something to do with the communication between the remote and TV, perhaps?

I wish I could remember whether the problem has been present for the entire life of the TV or if it appeared with one of the firmware updates.

It seems to me like I would have noticed the slowness sooner if it had been there all along. I'm not sure when exactly it started, but I think it has been the last month or so when it started bothering me.
