I have a suggestion for the next version: Smart Passes. They would allow you for instances to record any games where your favorite team is playing, record tv shows or movies featuring an actor you like, record any sci-fi movies rated 4 or 5, etc.
How about being able to pick what season to start recording from for shows with multiple seasons? For syndicated shows, once I delete a show I watched it'll be setup to record again. If I've gone through three seasons of a show I could at least modify the pass to only record from season 4 and on. Was very convenient on Tivo.
Right now it gets tedious having seasons one shows pop up again, fill the beginning of my episodes so I have to scroll to latest season I'm on, and I have to delete the old shows repeatedly.
Yes you can do that with advanced passes.
Set a condition: SeasonNumber > 3.

All I see is record all episodes or new episodes. Don't see conditions anywhere. And if it's not on that pass menu, I'm hoping I don't have to go someplace else to set a condition. That defeats the purpose of setting up a pass. If one can set conditions in some other area. There's no reason why it shouldn't be added to the actual pass setup.
Advanced passes are created and edited from the DVR server's web UI. Go to DVR > Passes > 
> New Advanced Pass. Or, if you'd like to modify an existing pass (such as to add conditions to it), then you can modify only a specific pass: DVR > Passes > Pass title > 
> Advanced. From there you can add or modify conditions for existing passes.
Thanks for that. Very annoying though. Kind of thought the point of the server was to be behind the scenes, not something to access to do day to day tasks. Set it up and forget about it. Doesn't help that I don't have a real keyboard or mouse because of that fact. Why did I leave tivo again?
Why is this something not in the normal gui? Was more in depth above. Thought something like this would be in the app and not having to resort to the server. Will this be added to the app? Not a fan of having to do that for every syndicated show I record. Shouldn't have to go to the backend every time you want to do front end work. Especially when the back end is setup to not be easily accessible (by design).
The backend is available on any device via http://x.x.x.x:8089. You don't need to access the computer directly, nor do you need an attached keyboard and mouse.
There are a variety of reasons some features are currently only available on the web admin UI. The advanced passes UI currently available is too complex to bring over to a TV interface. But we would like to eventually bring some commonly used advanced pass options to the app. Can't say when that will happen. It takes time and effort to develop and test new functionality (and to port it to each of our supported apps and platforms). We are a small team and do our best to prioritize features and bug fixes that will have the most impact across all our users and user-cases.
Good to know it can hopefully happen. My point is more it should be a one stop option on the front end. Don't want to have to think about it every time I set one up. Don't want to start setting one up normally and then realize, oh it's X, and I want to start from season Y so I need to go to the backend and do it. Should ultimately be seamless. Would think if you have new episodes and all episodes optionschoosong a season to start with shouldn't be that complex. And I'll be a broken record with tivo, but it was part of their basic setup since DVD days.
At the very least there should be a way to not have the dvr re-record all the episodes you've already watched without having to keep those episodes on the dvr and not having to go to the backend.
And apologies as I'm not trying to come off as harsh, but I know it comes off that way. 
I can understand what you're saying, but realize sometimes the guide data is wrong for a seasons premiere episode and marks it with no season and episode, as new season and episode 0, or as S00E00, or as last seasons last episode+1.
What I do is set the pass to record only NEW episodes.
And don't get me started about TiVo 
How good is that Rivo (Rovi/TiVo) guide data now?
Just wanted to add that Channels DVR will not re-record series episodes it has already recorded, even after you watch and delete them, unless you force it to (couple ways to do that). IIRC a TiVo does after so many days (28?).
I do have some series I started recording before using Channels DVR, so it doesn't know I recorded them with another partner previously. In that case I may have to skip some episodes in the ToDo list it thinks I don't have yet.

I think with so many seasons, I haven't recorded many episodes of older seasons even though I already watched them. So that could be my issue. Also another reason to be able to start recording from a specific season and on.
How can I enter the « rated 4 or 5 » condition (see first posted the thread)? I don’t see any way to do this.
