SOLVED - CBS so jerky it's basically unwatchable - Fubo FWIW

I've used a number of providers with Channels and to the devs' credit things have been pretty incredible. After losing Locast I circled back to adding FuboTV to my core Vidgo subscription and Fubo has all my major broadcast networks - ABC,NBC,CBS, and Fox. All my channels, these and the others, work pretty flawlessly - except for CBS. CBS looks like I'm ona dial-up line with a majority of the frames dropped and video lagging the audio.

I've tried removing CBS and rescanning, removing Fubo and re-adding, etc., and nothing has fixed it. Any idea how I can fix CBS?

Does it work on https://www.cbs.com/live-tv/stream/tveverywhere/

Yes, perfectly. As it does in the FuboTV app as well. My apologies for failing to mention that in my initial message.

What device are you watching on where it's jerky?

It's on my Fire TV 4K Stick. That's pretty much all I use for media and they've worked great. And they do with Channels, except CBS. I just tried the client on my Android phone connected via my home wifi and it works fine there. Tried on another Fire TV 4K Stick in another room and it's jerky, just like the other one, so it definitely appears to be something with the Fire TV client.
This has been an issue for at least 1-2 weeks and I've been updating to the latest prerelease builds on the server to get the NFL and RedZone fixes that were done this week.

I had looked at the stats while watching and they look fine to me - did bandwidth, no dropped frames, just the weird behavior while viewing.

Any change with Settings > Playback > Advanced > Video Decoder: Software

FWIW I have this same exact issue with CBS. I've played around with all settings that I can think of & nothing has seemed to work.

Same issue here. CBS is stuttering on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD. Have tried changing all the setting but nothing seemed to work.

UPDATE 2: Solved by changing Video Decoder setting from Software to Hardware

UPDATE: Checked Monday afternoon, and my CBS TVE is worse than before. It’s jerky, out-of-synch, and unwatchable. This problem only exists on my FireTV 4K and only on this channel. CBS TVE works fine on both my iPhone and my Fire HD8 tablet.

I had a similar issue last weekend while trying to watch a football game (CBS via TVE on FireTV 4K) with the stuttering picture. I switched to antenna reception. Since then I installed the beta, and the problem seemed to go away, but last night while watching another game on NBC this time I saw some mild skipping, so immediately went to antenna again.

Hope this is transitory.

It's probably nothing but I was updating my existing sources and looking at logs and most calls seem to go to data.tmsapi.com, but some go to www.cbs.com. Just thought it was a weird coincidence, if that's all it is. Still an issue.

Good suggestion. I noticed a few stations having an issue with stutters connecting remotely with a FireTV 4k stick (encoding to 4mbps), most noticeable with football it seemed. This was set to "Software" so I switched it to "Hardware" and it totally fixed it. Smooth as butter.

Seems to have worked for me also. Marking it as solved unless I determine later that it hasn't. CBS is working great at the moment, anyway. Thanks for the pointer.

Same here: Changing Video Decoder from Software to Hardware eliminated the stuttering on CBS TVE for FireTV 4K.

Thanks!
