[SOLVED] DirecTV: authentication failures with 9 channels from the Discovery group

I don't know exactly when this started but a total of 9 channels from the Discovery group are failing authentication in Channels:

  • Animal Planet
  • HGTV
  • TLC
  • Investigation Discovery
  • DIY
  • Cooking Channel
  • Science
  • AHC
  • Destination America

Troubleshooting steps I have tried:

  • manual rescans => no changes
  • checked on their website if I am able to log in and stream => yes, it works
  • removed the DirecTV source in Channels and added it back => no changes

I just did a manual rescan of Animal Planet and it failed.

Did you skip step #1?
Channels Pre-Release

Good point, I forgot to mention it in my message that I have also updated to the latest pre-release.
However, I just checked now and there is another version. There may be hope.

new_pre-release

My server is going to be busy recording until 3 AM so I will check again in the morning.

Same issues here.
Dropped from 176 to 161 the channels approximately 10 days but I don't watch those channels so wasn't aware which they were.
Just realized the food network is also missing.

Same actions taken as well tve update/refresh and remove&ad DTV tve

Server: Version 2021.10.26.1544
Client: 2021.10.27.46

Now upgraded to the latest pre-release version 2021.10.26.1544 and it is still the same. :frowning:

Hopefully, the diagnostics I submitted yesterday will be enough to shed some light on this issue.

This is what your dvr is seeing:

Are you able to login and watch on sciencechannel.com

Yes, I am able to log in and watch live TV.

Do you see in the logs which email and password were used to try to log in? If so, you can let me know in private.
Should be the same as all other channels with my DirecTV credentials.

Problem fixed!

The screenshot that you posted, @tmm1, gave me the idea to update my password in my DirecTV source:

cdvr_update_password

I simply put my password again (the same that I use to log in on the websites to authenticate with my DirecTV credentials).
I rescanned all the channels after that and now everything is back.
I don't know why this needed to be done but that fixed my problem.

I am posting this in case this helps somebody else (at least @CScott).

Probably because that action also deletes the contents of the chromedata folder in Channels DVR.
That's been a problem with Xfinity & Discovery Networks and looks like now DirecTV.

My bad. I'm having issues with all the discovery channel(s) with DirectTV Stream not direct tv.
Repeated all the above steps again today

If you have the latest pre-release running, Submit DVR diagnostics.

DirectTV Stream accessed again ..
.. it required me to SHUT OFF VPN to authenticate.
(never had to do that before for ATTNow or DTV Stream)
