I have this consistently happen with one channel (120.1 in Indianapolis) and just happened with one out of Louisville.
The live broadcast works fine, and details show it is HEVC.
However, when recording, it shows as MPEG, and is essentially unwatchable:
Running 2022.10.03.2116 DVR on my iMac. Issue is replicated on iOS and Apple TV.
In the server source is the atsc1 (20.1) favorited and the atsc3(120.1) NOT favorited? This will cause the dvr to record from the atsc1 channel instead of atsc3
Does the log have any entries like this:
HDHomeRun: 807 No Video DataFirst off, both issues are with the same tuner, in Indianapolis. It's at a second home that has a VPN.
Looking at the log, the issue seems to be that the VPN takes a few seconds to spin up, so the ATSC 3 channel is attempted, times out, and by the time the ATSC 1 channel is attempted, it works.
Since there isn't enough bandwidth to fully send the MPEG there, it gets distorted.
Only other question I'd have is if there is some sort of retry I could implement? The VPN isn't able to be persistant at this time.
