Some TV show files missing from DVR guide

I noticed that some old shows that are in the disk TV directly do not show up on the DVR guide, these are all older shows. For instance I have 17 video files in the TV/Winter Olympics directory but only 12 show in the DVR guide on iPad, AppleTV, etc. I saw the restore function in this community but it looks like it may mess up newer shows. Is there some way to rebuild the index/database to get all shows without messing up anything that been recorded since then?

Unfortunately there’s no way to import recordings into the database. It’s strange that they would be on disk and not in the db though. Only way I can think that would happen is if they were deleted (manually or via the Keep setting), but the disk operation failed.

Can you use the TV icon on the Mac menu bar to open the log, and search for one of the filenames that’s missing to see what happened when it was recorded and if anyone tried to delete it?

I am not going to worry about this since it looks like I can temporarily rename the files to something that the DVR knows about to watch it, then delete it and rename the original file. Here’s what I found:

The affected files are dated Jan 10-11, there are about 8 of them. Viewing the log which starts Jan 1 2018, some I could not find at all, some I could. One really investing find was that a show (Alfred Hitchcock) recorded on Jan 10, the file date, does not display in the DVR guide, BUT… it showed in the log as having commercial skip processing done in June, 6 months later! Go figure. All other recordings are fine since then so I will assume since it was new I may have done something to cause it, early on I did move the DVR files to another disk. But I have done it again 2 months ago with no issues. Would have been nice to have a function to check actual files against database though, and make corrections. Thanks for the quick response!
