I noticed closed captions with TVE is really bad. is this the way channels is recording the stream ? Or is it the Android Client ? Tested Philo and Comcast.
Which channels? They seem fine for me on iOS/tvOS.
Every Channel On Philo No Closed captions or corrupted on my Shield and FireTV. See the eyyi that is what I see on most channels or none at all. Might be the way the Android App is doing CC. I had nt noticed this before as I normally watch Shows on my Prime. But I have decided to start watching more of the TVE channels.
They work fine on my PC Google Chrome but they do not work on the Shield or FireTV 4K ... I hope you are still working on improving the Android App. It has several bugs. for example Passes not getting stop and start time from the DVR.
EDIT CC works using Software decoding.

The bug affecting closed caption rendering for some TVE channels while in Hardware decoder mode has been fixed in the latest beta release on the Play store.
