Sorting Recordings by Show Name?

When I’m watching prerecorded shows I almost always use the ‘Recordings’ menu. However since it only sorts by date, it makes it really hard to find specific recordings.

Is it possible to allow sorting by show name, and put all the shows by that name in a submenu? That way I could just scroll to the show I want to watch, hit the menu, and pick an episode.

Try using the TV Shows tab instead of Recordings, then by using the tabs at the top of the screen sort TV Shows by Recently Updated.

Also, in Settings>Library set Airing Order to Oldest First.

Thanks for your help. The issue with that is it won’t sort only my DVR recordings, but my TV library as well. So instead of the 30 shows that I record, I now need to sort through the dozens/hundreds of shows in my catalog.

If there was simply a way to sort my recordings, I would be able to quickly navigate my DVR, instead of trying to remember when a specific show was recorded.

For me a good example is “The Americas.” It’s not a show that’s on my mind, and I wouldn’t think to search for it. But if I saw it in my DVR list I would more likely watch it. If I try to watch it using the TV Shows tab, I would never find it because of the hundreds of shows in my library.

The way I fixed that is I set all of my imported content to "Hidden". It did take me a while, though.

Very interesting! Well hopefully the Channels engineers will be able to get sorting integrated into the recordings tab. Otherwise this seems like a great alternative. Thanks for the suggestion.

Instead of using the recordings tab (which doesn't sort the way you'd like) or the TV shows tab (which shows both recordings and library content), you could create a personal section, which is what I've done because I too wanted something more like what you describe.

My personal section is called "DVR TV". My settings look like this:

and I've set a smart rule that looks like this:

You could change the sort to "alphabetically" if you want, but I think "date updated" gives the best of both worlds.
