Source Guide provider help

I need some clarification. When I use 'tvc-guide-stationid' in the #EXTINF as the Gracenote station ID, which guide provider do I use? Not sure what 'X-M3U' is for.
I see 'X-M3U' or I can choose one from a zip code which I can't do because stations are from different areas. So how can I setup so the 'tvc-guide-stationid' is used. Also, every time I reload the M3U, the guide disappears.

Thanks

From my own experience, if I specify the station ID in the m3u itself, The guide data and logo populate automatically - I do not also have to go in and map a guide channel by inputting a zip and provider. I have only had to do that when I don’t know the stationid and wanted to search for a match.

There is probably a better answer out there though from someone more knowledgeable than me.

I think my issue may be that there is something in the XMLTV Guide Data box and I cannot get rid of it.

Yes - I’m instances where I am using a stationid in the m3u or when I am using the manual guide mapping - I am not using any xml guide data at the same time. I just assumed it’s one or the other.

So what is the X-M3U for? If I choose that as the provider, I get the guide data, but if I reload the M3U it disappears until I choose X-M3U again as the provider. Maybe that is normal behavior because it is assumed the guide data is no longer valid if the M3U is reloaded. So is X-M3U the correct choice if I want to use 'tvc-guide-stationid'

AIUI, X-M3U is the DeviceID/internal designation given to all Custom Channels (external M3U playlists). It is the same as TVE-DTV given to a DirecTV TV Everywhere source (or TVE-… for any other TV Everywhere source), or DEADBEEF or whatever DeviceID your HDHR tuner has.

Where are you “selecting” this? When I import a m3u with a valid tvc-guide-stationid it just automatically maps - if i edit the channel the source shows as X-M3U and the channel logo and guide are auto populated from the stationid in the m3u file.

I am selecting Settings>Source>Reload M3U. Then the guide is empty until I select Settings>Source>Set provider>Pick Existing>X-M3U. Then the guide loads up. Is the guide suppose to load up automatically when you just Reload the M3U? It doesn't for me..

Reloading m3u should not affect the guide.

Do you have channel-id= set in the m3u?

Just started working. That was weird. Now Reload M3U reloads the guide. Takes about 2 minutes, then loads up.

Again does not work. I just added some #EXTINF's to the text and the guide went blank. Waited 10 minutes, still blank. Then selected X-M3U as provider and bingo, guide was back. Maybe it is because I use text instead of file for the source. I will try that next

Why are you pressing reload m3u when it's just text?

because the new stations don't show up until I reload. If I add stations in the text should ChannelsDVR add them automatically?

Changed to file and the guide is gone. I must be missing a step or setting somewhere

Yes. Here is an example of one entry. Is there an error in this ?
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="KTLA" channel-number="1137" tvg-name="CW-KTLA" tvg-logo="https://schedulesdirect-apixxxxx-logos.s3.amazonaws.com/stationLogos/s10724_dark_360w_270h.png" tvc-guide-stationid="10724",KTLA

It does for me - if the stationid is correct anyway. I also use text entry as the custom channel source. Adds station automatically, pulls in guide automatically, never have to hit reload or anything like that.

I check the guide on the dvr server to make sure first as it can take some time for my clients to reflect the changes but if I see it correct on the server guide I take that as it worked.

I think the issue may be because I have multiple entries in the 'Change Provider' Guide Data. These are old entries and I don't know how to delete them. ChannelsDVR may be trying to load these and they no longer exist so I get a blank guide. That's why if I Pick X-M3U it works. I think if I delete and recreate the source, it may work.

There's no reason to click Change Guide and nothing on there has anything to do with the issue.

I removed and recreated the source and it works now. Something must have been corrupted. Also had to change the name of the source because it was stuck on a non existing Guide XML which was the issue all along. Now it seems to be using only X-M3U. This would have been easier if you could delete/remove the Guide providers for a Custom Channel Source.
