Specifying DVR address and performance issues in beta iOS app

I’ve been using the web interface to watch recorded shows connecting via my VPN over an LTE connection back to my network. With that, I goto the web page and am able to watch a show on my iPad. Using the beta iOS app, I can see the recordings (sometimes; not sure the logic as my DVR is on a different subnet from my VPN).

So first up, can you add a setting to specify the DVR address if it can’t be found?

Second, when the recordings showed up, I set the quality to low and was unable to get the recording to stream. What is the difference in the transcoding between the app and the web page that would cause this? Is there a way to specify that I want the app to behave like the webpage?

The LTE connection is maybe around 10 Mbps, so I realize that it is a bit on the low bandwidth side, but it would be great to have the app able to stream over the connection.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

Remote streaming via the app is not yet supported. The app always tries to stream raw mpeg2, whereas the web player uses the transcoder.

Once the iOS app has stabilized, remote access is the next thing on our list.

“remote access is the next thing on our list”.

Is this intended to work with iOS and tvOS? iOS certainly makes sense but it might be nice to use it on the Apple TV Remotely as well.

It wouldn’t bother me to have it added to tvOS, but I’d never haul one of those things around, they weight like 100 pounds!

I just carry my lightning to hdmi and an hdmi cable in my bag and use my phone.

Great, thanks for the quick reply!
