Spectrum TV Essentials - Channel Lineup

  • ** This is the Spectrum ESSENTIALS package, which has only 60 channels max, and is only available to Spectrum Internet customers **

I couldn't find a post that identified the TVE channels for the Spectrum TV “Essentials" streaming cable package, so I figured I'd start a new thread to help others who might be wondering. For reference, the only local network I receive (via experimental TVE) in Orlando, FL is NBC, but I assume that may differ based on region.

6000 – NBC
6010 – Comedy Central
6012 – MTV
6014 – VH1
6016 – CMT
6018 – BET
6020 – TV Land
6022 – Paramount
6024 – Logo
6028 – Nick Jr
6043 – A&E
6044 – History
6045 – FYI
6046 – Lifetime
6101 – Discovery
6102 – Food Network
6103 – Animal Planet
6104 – HGTV
6105 – TLC
6106 – Travel
6107 – Investigation Discovery
6108 – Magnolia
6109 – Cooking
6110 – Science
6111 – American Heroes
6112 – Destination America
6113 – Discovery Life
6114 – Motor Trend

This is a decent number of good TVE channels for the price, but lacks some of my favorites, so I'll be keeping it to supplement my YouTube TV rather than replacing it. Specifically, Logo, A&E, History, FYI, Lifetime, Magnolia (DIY), Cooking, Science, AHC, Destination, and Discovery Life are channels that aren't available through YouTube TV, so that's a plus that I can now add them through the Spectrum TV Essentials package.

Interestingly, I'm in Lakeland and just loaded those channels this morning. When I added Spectrum as a source in the DVR, it pulled in 170 of the (6000) channel numbers. At first glance, some of the channels appear to be duplicates but they're actually running different content.

It is probably east coast west coast feed... on duplicate channels.

I'm good with that. I like how I can pull the TVE channels into my Channels DVR and bypass my HD Homeruns and Tuning resolvers.

You must have a different subscription if you’re pulling in that many channels because the Essentials package is max 60 channels, and that’s with the Spectrum App (not using TVE). Unless you’re referring to the additional free channels everyone gets, like Court TV, Buzzer, Dabl, Dove, etc.

My subscription is actually the legacy Brighthouse, I don't use the Spectrum app. I added Spectrum as a source in my Channels DVR using "TV Everywhere" Once it finished loading all of the available channels, I went back into the lineup, selected "Edit" and went down the list and rescanned each channel that didn't pull through during the initial scan. I do have some of the channels you mentioned and some channels I can't access but the list contains 205 channels in total. Assuming they will continue to add to the lineup over time and because it's essentially a streaming service, this could be my exit ramp to get away from using cable cards and tuning resolvers.

Yup. That would explain it. My post was specific to the “Essentials” streaming package Spectrum offers now. If you have legacy Brighthouse, etc, then there are additional cable channels (TBS, TNT, TruTV, etc), but the ones I listed are just the essentials and the plethora of other useless channels are the same free ones everyone gets, regardless of provider.

I'm currently subscribed to Spectrum TV Choice. You get all your locals and 15 channels of your choosing from this list.
https://www.spectrumchoicechannels.com/

It's come out to around $58 a month. You get $15 off a month for the first 12 months.

My current lineup is:

Channel40 USA Network
Channel41 TBS
Channel42 TNT
Channel54 Disney Channel
Channel56 Nickelodeon
Channel57 Cartoon Network
Channel64 ESPN
Channel72 HISTORY
Channel74 HGTV
Channel75 National Geographic
Channel95 FOX Sports 1
Channel265 Disney XD
Channel310 NFL Network
Channel444 TUDN
Channel442 FOX Deportes

You may need to call to get this package. Although it shows up on Spectrum's website. It does not appear for ordering when doing it online.

Nickelodeon does not have a live TV stream so it's not available on Channels DVR.

I actually had the choice package once before to try it out, but cancelled because of the cost, and had better luck (and cheaper) pairing Fubo with Locast. Now that Locast is gone though, I’ve been bouncing between a few options. I originally landed on Spectrum’s “Select” plan with their cloud DVR (which their app is awful, BTW) but switched to YouTube TV for $55/month with my T-Mobile account/discount.

The only reason I wound up with Spectrum again is because of their ridiculous use of promos that added the Essentials package to my internet plan and the bundle now costs less than when I only had internet. My original hope was that I could pair Essentials with my HDHR and cancel my YTTV altogether but that’s not gonna happen with the limited lineup, no instead I’ll just enjoy the extra channels that were missing from my YTTV subscription.

The only issue I have with this package is that there is no way to remove locals from the package. Since these are basically useless with Channels DVR. This adds $12.95 to the cost.

Have you tried checking the “experimental” TVE Locals box in your DVR settings? Because my Spectrum locals (with Select package) came through without an issue in my area. The only local that I think no one gets from TVE locals is CW but I could be wrong.

I also have the TV Choice package. I would have gone with Essentials but it is missing 3 key channels I want and includes a lot of channels I don't care about.

I can get the locals through TVE in my area but I use an antenna to get those because it is better quality than the TVE feed.

It comes out cheaper than if I had any of the other OTT services along with my internet only bill.

I'm already getting locals through an Hdhomerun Quattro. I have an extra Hdhomerun dual I can use but really have no need for it. So I'd rather save the $12.95.

I had Choice then I learned you can get new customer pricing after 32 days. So in the meantime I use YTTV or Hulu live for a month. One good thing about choice is you get premiums for$7.50 each or 5 for $15.

I’ll have to look at that premiums pricing. 5 for $15 would be awesome.

Do premiums work in Channels DVR?

No

So does the "choice" package include TVE access for all the channels you choose?

Also is the $58/mo you quoted including the internet?

It does include TVE. It does not include internet. They do offer an internet plan called Internet Assist which is $17.99 a month for 30Mbps. Or $22.99 if you include the Wifi modem.

The website you pointed to said the choice plan was $30/mo, so is the other $28 just fees and stuff?
