Hasn't been supported for awhile https://getchannels.com/dvr-server/#nvidiashield
I see that now. I haven't been on here in quite some time. Either I forgot about it or I missed the memo.
Thanks
You should consider migrating your server to a new platform at some point.
I was using it mostly for TV Everywhere access as it was something I had here without buying something new. Now that Paramount Network isn't working with TV Everywhere anymore I could just go back to using my QNAP ARM server for just OTA I suppose. I don't really record anything anymore thru TV Everywhere. I do have an old laptop I could use as well I suppose.
If it's working, then it's fine. We can't tell you to STOP running it. And we certainly won't just break it on purpose.
But it's things like the issue in this thread that will start popping up over time, and of course, there's no provided technical support.
Your server continues to update, but just know that we do no testing, nor do we give any attention to Channels DVR Server running on the NVIDIA shield.
Just wanted to say it happened again for me. I know its not supported and thats fine I guess. It is what it is. Sucks to have to go buy new stuff.
Anyways, is there a way I can go back to v2024.11.10.2341?

Change the IP address and port to match your server
curl -XPUT http://127.0.0.1:8089/updater/check/2024.11.10.2341
Of course, when the next stable release comes out, it will auto update to it.
@bnhf maybe this could be added to OliveTin.
Or maybe not. See Start live detection when watching in-progress recording not working - #29 by chDVRuser
command line / terminal, etc.
Windows command prompt, Mac terminal, Linux command line.
Anything on your network, including your dvr server.
curl is a command line utility
I entered this in terminal and i just get the response
true%
If you used the IP address and port of your dvr server, it should have loaded v2024.11.10.2341
Check the version or look at the dvr log.
It did nothing, it isn't in the log
Guess they fixed it so you cannot load an older version that way then.
If you revert back to the latest stable version (2024.09.10.2115) and then run that curl command it should work to update it to v2024.11.10.2341.
How do I revert back to a stable version? LoL
This is probably the easiest way
- Make a database backup (note the exact time it was done)
- Uninstall Channels DVR
- Install Channels DVR (it will install the latest stable version)
- Restore your database backup (you can tell which one by the time it was made)
Instead of worrying about Live detection I would look to move away from the Shield ASAP.... Never know the next release might kill it.
You want to pay for new hardware for me? So easy for someone to say when you don't know what my situation is.
The issue isn't just live detection. Even after recording it is happening.
Anyways, I'll move back to my QNAP server since OTA DVR and Commercial skipping are my primary concern over TVE.
I switched back to my QNAP and the Recordings I currently have didn't get commercial detection.
I tried to re-run it and it fails with an error 43.
