Still Waiting - DVR Requests

Although Channels’ devs are incredibly responsive to ALL user requests:

I find myself in a quandry without receiving feedback from devs re: my two latest requests…

  1. Separate Channels listing of channels (vs SD listing) re: favs, allowed (vs SD std allowed channels), and “hidden” channels. Would like to be free of the SD dreaded 2-3 day rescan…PITA. Can you at least comment on various requests posted in your forums?

  2. Would like to see DRM channels within Channels guide…so that I can quickly identify shows to record (on SDDVR…if/when they offer DRM recording…so can then use their totally crappy Discover alpha search). Hate to ask for a Channels’s improvement to be able to utilize SDDVR, but I know this request would never be considered on SD. :grinning: Also, hate the fact that I have to utilize both solutions…but, as Channels will never be capable of supporting DRM recording…it is probably the easiest total solution for our needs.

In conjunction with 2. above, I’d love to see a way to “view” proposed tuner usage for a full day/evening of recording/live watching.

No current solution has a way of determining “future” usage. Channels has the closest implementation with current “DVR” schedule, which we currently use extensively to view potential conflicts.

The two variables absent in utilizing “DVR” schedule as a tool for avoiding conflicts:

  1. Any DRM recordings to be scheduled utilizing available HDHR tuners.
  2. Any “Live” tv requests which would utilize an HDHR tuner.

I can envision a “Channels Tuner” utilization page which would list all proposed Channels’ recordings, DRM recordings (obviously by another solution) plus anticipated “live viewing”. Thus, at a single glance, one could determine if enough tuners are available to cover the latest requirements…and then make appropriate adjustments.

Kind of a “pie in the sky” request but one which I feel confident that could be accomplished by Channels’ devs. And not one I would entrust to any other developer to accomplish with the finesse of these two devs.

Debbie,
I know you’ve been firing off posts on both sets of forums, but I’m sure you’d want them to have time to consider and respond. When my kids pester me without time to think, I always say No.

this is different than just answering the Nth time on the same questions.

I don’t want them to get burned out, they need sleep too.

Requests on each of the forums are totally separate, so I don’t feel that I am pestering either, except maybe you’re right about posts in SD forums…however, just trying to get a responsive reply…being that it is 3 years.

I just wish someone else would chase those bunnies down the rabbit hole…my last ditch effort…you might say.
