I have movies on a Synology NAS. I have a library pointed to them in my Plex server. Question is, if I add the movie source to Channels (/volume1/PlexContent/Movies/Movies), is anything other than metadata populated into the Channel's folders? Channels says 'Import movies' which kind of threw me.
The files stay where they are if there’s what you mean.

Just don't trash any using Channels DVR. It will delete the files on the NAS.
You can choose only allow delete on dvr recordings and this will make it so that “imported” movies will not be allowed to delete from any channels client. It’s under settings client global library allow deletion
