Strange problem with volume level

[sent an email to [email protected] about a week ago and have heard nothing, so...]

I am using the following equipment:

HDHomeRun Flex 4K is the video/audio source

Nvidia Shield Pro running the Channels DVR being fed by the HDHomeRun

Trinnov Altitude 16 audio processor being fed by the Nvidia Shield

Lumagen Pro video processor being fed video by the Trinnov

JVC projector fed by the Lumagen pro

I do not turn off the HDHomeRun or the Nvidia Shield, so these are always active

What’s odd is that after turning off the Trinnov audio processor, Lumagen Pro, and JVC - and then turning on all of these again, the sound level of the system is quite a bit higher than when I turn it off.

If I use the Nvidia Shield’s remote to open the guide via the Back Button and then return to the same channel, the sound level drops quite a bit.

If, instead I use the remote’s D-pad to show the Quick Guide of my channels and pick another channel the sound level remains the same.

I don’t think there are any means for controlling any of this in Channels DVR or the Nvidia Shield Pro. And there is really nothing in the Trinnov that is being done.

Any ideas???

Very strange.

You could try with the official HDHR app to see if there is similar behavior there or not.

Tested the HDHomeRun app on the Nvidia Shield Pro. However, it doesn't operate in the same way. When I open the app and choose a channel, or move from channel to channel there is no deviation in sound level output. I note that the SPL for HDHomeRun is somewhat louder than Channels DVR app. And as I noted, Channels DVR behavior seems only to happen when switching from the initial startup of all the other devices, and using Channels DVR a high sound level begins and stays even when switching channels, but only via the Back button. Changing to the Quick Guide and picking a channel results in the lower SPL.

On another note, Channels DVR has a habit of randomly resetting the channel video/audio output while watching live. Never see/hear this happen using the HDHomeRun app. Let me amend that: does appear to happen with the HDHomeRun app as well.
