Stream error during commercial break TVE

@Edwin_Perez - Are you running the beta that @tmm1 recommended or a different client? I am running today's beta and have not seen the problem in the last hour of watching. That's too soon to call it fixed but I looks promising so far.

I am on Android using the latest beta of DVR for Windows.

That helps clarify things. The latest beta client is TVOS based.

@tmm1 - beta ran for about 90 minutes and then the error happened again. I've submitted diagnostics for you.

@johnluber: can you try changing the Quality setting to something other than "Original" and see if that makes a difference? Setting it to "1080p 8Mbps" will be sufficient.

I've got that change running now. I'll let you know what happens.

This time it failed in less than 5 minutes. Same error condition.

I had to disableTVE fox (FBN,FNC) for now keeps happening during commercials pause and closes.

Tested by recording a couple shows on FBN and FNC.
Both recordings got the file fetch error.
When the recordings completed I viewed them with my video editor and for both recordings where the fetch failure ocurred, the PTS time stamps jump about 35 minutes ahead.

It is funny that I am having the same problems on the same channels and I use Android.

Can you email us the recording log from one or both of those? In the web UI, click gear icon for the recording and it says View Recording Log.

Any luck on resolving this yet?

The latest build improved dvr logging for this case. Please post the dvr log entry when it happens.

As far as we can tell this is something specific to the Fox News/Business streaming server. I suspect it would also happen if you streamed on fox.com/live in your browser.

Hmm, no there's a newer version. Looks like our build server is offline due to a network outage. I will let you know when the new version is uploaded, but it might not happen until Monday.

I've got it running in a browser and through Channels for a bit to see what happens. To be honest though, I don't know that this will be a good comparison though because they each run different commercials. A few weeks back, FNC started running some really lame PSAs and pretty much eliminated traditional product commercials from the TVE stream.

But, I'll run them both for a bit and see what happens and report back as well.

OK, so about 40 mins in running both Channels and the live stream in a browser. I can confirm that while Channels got hung up the browser did not. What I can't say for certain is whether or not the same commercial played on both streams. Note that web stream was running about a minute behind Channels but even after Channels stopped the web stream kept playing for several minutes.
