Stream Links Video & Audio Quality

Just saw the announcement about stream links, VERY COOL! I’m curious, what resolution/audio version of the movie will stream through Channels? Here’s the scenarios I’m thinking through:

On my Sony Bravia, I use the native Disney+ app that runs on the Android TV platform. The current app version supports 4K, but it doesn’t support Dolby Atmos. However other devices (Apple TV 4K, etc) can play the same video with an Atmos soundtrack. If I create a stream link for a movie that has 4K & Atmos compatibility, will channels allow me to stream that version?

It won't.

The content comes from the source app. Channels merely links to the other app; whatever resolution/audio quality you get is up to the other app/service.

The video is played IN the streaming service's app. It is not played through Channels.

Bummer, I was hoping to circumvent the streaming app but I just re-read the announcement and sure enough:

When you go to watch them, the corresponding streaming app will open and you’ll start watching it.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Is this only for Apple?

This is how Stream Links work for all Channels apps.
