Struggling to import Fernwood 2Night and America 2Night

I've been struggling trying to import both Fernwood 2Night and America 2Night. IMDb, TMDb and TVDb all seem to (properly) classify them as distinct series with one season, season 1. I don't know how to examine the Gracenote data, but the two series seem to be conflated.

I started by making the file names and folder names match TMDb. When I first tried to import both series (I stupidly did both at the same time), both series were imported into the Fernwood group. The Fernwood episodes and the America episodes were interleaved since both were tagged as season 1. I think there was correct episode data for Fernwood, but not for America. I've tried so many different things, it's hard to keep the results straight.

Between each failed attempt, I have moved both folders outside the TV folder and then done a purge to clean things up. I'm not convinced that the Channels server is still not caching some data that may be confusing my results.

My last attempt was to import only America. I used fix incorrect match to change the imported videos from Fernwood to America. The episode info looked correct at this point and the series was titled America 2Night. I then tried to import Fernwood, but it went into the America group. At this point the episode info looks correct, but they two series are interleaved since both are season 1.

Any hints as to how I might get these two shows imported as separate series? Is there some way to get the initial import to use TMDb rather than Gracenote?

I'm not sure whether that will fix your problem but when you do Fix Incorrect Match at the show level, you can pick if you want to match to either Gracenote or TheMovieDB.

I tried something similar by selecting several episodes and invoking the Fix Incorrect Show action. It did update episode data, including the correct show title, but the episodes were not moved to a different group with the matching title. They stayed in the same group.

Actually, I see that my most recent import attempt has the correct show names in the file objects. I just can't seem to get them into separate groups.

If nobody else can suggest a better solution, at last resort, you can edit the metadata manually. That won't change anything physically on the disk but at least your library in Channels DVR will look like you want.
