I don't recommend reinstalling, because you will lose your data. There are backups, but only on the drive that failed.
Please submit diagnostics from the DVR web UI under Support > Troubleshooting > Submit

What is the brand/type of the new drive you attached?
I think you may have set it up as internal/adopted storage.
It's a Seagate 5TB ONE TOUCH HDD.
Shield Settings show the drive as Seagate USB storage.
What does the storage screen look like?
Did you format to ExFAT or something else?
Made some progress. TMM1 was right I needed to format the drive as an external drive.
Which I did and it now appears as such in settings:
However when I access any recordings, they all say "Playback failed". Am I supposed to restore files from backup?
The recordings are on the old drive that died. You will need to try to recover that drive and copy the recordings over.
The only thing that survived was your settings and sources and passes.
