I got into setup mode somehow and I don't know how to get out.
When I try to enter the directory name I get the following response:
permission denied
I got into setup mode somehow and I don't know how to get out.
When I try to enter the directory name I get the following response:
The directory doesn't look correct.
I can't see the list of folders on the left because it's cut off in your screenshot
I understand. I hit the + sign thinking that would allow me to enter the directory name but all it did is add what I entered after the existing name and it doesn't give you an option to correct or cancel
So I'm stuck in the "2. Setup Storage" step with no way to exit or continue otherwise.
What are the options shown on the left?
Do you have a drive attached to the shield? Is it formatted as external storage?
Yes there is a drive attached but it stopped working this morning so I was looking for ways to get it going again by disconnecting it and reconnecting it to NVIDIA. That's when I inadvertently got myself into "Initial Setup" mode.
...and yes when it was working it was formatted as external storage
Does the shield settings show the drive attached? Maybe it died?
It doesn't look like it's attached. I agree it might have died. So how do I continue?
I can purchase another drive and restore whatever backup is available to it. But I still need to get out of "Initial Setup" mode before I can do anything.
It won't let you proceed until a drive is attached and the storage location is selected.
What are you trying to do there? The DVR won't be usable without storage drive
When I attach a new drive to the Shield will that allow me to specify a new directory name so I can get out of Initial setup? Because right now I don't have the ability to change the name that is displayed on the screen.
Yes.
I installed and formatted a new external drive on the Shield. It shows up as attached in Shield Settings. But I can't change the name of the recordings destination or get out of "2. Setup Storage" in "Initial Setup" on the Channels/admin/settings screen.
Try updating to latest pre-release by CLICK and HOLD the Check for Update button.
Does the new drive appear on the left under Internal Storage?
No it does not.
Do I need to reinstall Channels DVR? If I do will I lose any backups? Or is there a way to restore from a backup prior to this mishap?
