While (live) watching PBS Create, which is an SD subchannel on the local ATSC 1.0 broadcast, we get sporadic "hangs" -- the video stream just stops -- and you need to leave and re-enter the channel to resume. Different versions of the server and app don't seem to affect it. Using the HDHR ATSC 3.0 tuner.
Just to cover the basics, have you checked whether this behavior also occurs with the HDHR native app or is it specific to Channels DVR?
Good question! We don't normally use HDHR app, so I installed it and looked at the subchannel:
Pretty much the same behavior -- occassional pauses, and "audio only" message once, and then a full hang. These subchannels seem to be a problem for the HDHR line: when I used the model with compression in the past when compression was on the subchannels were distorted and pixilated.
Sounds like poor signal quality from your antenna
The signal metrics in the Silicon Dust monitor are perfect -- I'm a retired RF Engineer, so that was the first thing I checked.
Does the main PBS x.1 channel always look good?
Did you know the SD HDHomeRun Config GUI for TECH software will display the signal stats in real time.
Yes, no problem with the main channel.
Please go to Settings -> Support -> Submit Diagnostic Logs from your device and let us know when it's been submitted so we can have a better idea of what was going on.
