Subtitles suddenly gone?

Has Channels pushed out a new atv release in the last few days? subtitles are no longer showing when selected, but were fine as of a few days ago.

side note: there’s got to be a better way to toggle the subtitles on/off than slide down, up, right, down, left, down, select feels more like enabling cheat mode on a console game!! perhaps at least enable siri support to toggle it on/off as plex does?

Thanks ( awesome app btw! )

Yes there was a new release on Friday. Subtitles still work for me though. What hdhomerun model are you using?

Unfortunately tvOS does not have a Siri API. Plex uses the system video player which has some Siri support, but we had to write our own video player for the hdhomerun streams.

It’s a HDHomeRun Connect HDHR4-2DT ( UK freeview content). Can confirm that the subtitles are present when i open the stream in vlc, same content on channels app atv not working, tried restarting both atv and hdhomerun unit. let me know if there’s any way in which i can help debug.

shame about the siri control of subtitles. I think i saw it suggested elsewhere that maybe when triggering the mute function it could toggle cc’s on? I understand that other systems behave like that.

Ok maybe it’s an issue with DVB subtitles. I will take a look.

I can confirm that this same happens in Finland. None of the channels doesn’t show the dvb subtitles anymore.

We have reproduced this issue and found a fix.

A new version has been released to an app store with the fix.

Doesn’t work… Version 2.1.2?

Yes, 2.1.2 has the fix. Can someone else confirm if its working or not?

Updated this morning. Still no subtitles, sorry :frowning:

Looks like we forgot to include the fix in 2.1.2

Really missing DVB-Subtitles.
I hope that those get fixed in next update.

We released 2.1.3 today with the fix. Sorry for the trouble!

As a developer myself, I’ve made that mistake on the odd occasion too

Thanks for the new release, will keep an eye out and report back.
