Sudden loss of channels

Hi all,

A couple days ago, i started getting errors on a few channels i frequent like food network and HGTV. When I went to settings and did a rescan of the channel, i got an error. When I did a full scan, I went from 160 channels down to 137. A lot of popular channels disappeared with the same error:

403 Forbidden: Access to the requested resource path has been forbidden: [Authorized Networks: None] [Authorized Products: None].

When I go to the different channels live stream page and login via provider, it streams just fine.

Some of the channels that disappeared are: Food network, HGTV, TLC, Travel, DIY

Provider is ATT U-verse with no recent changes to the package.

I submitted a diagnostic log 3fbfa370-2e01-4fcb-bc02-f3eb39b66a8a

Not sure what to try next.

Thanks in advance!

Click Edit at the top right and individually rescan those channels

Once in a while I get errors on some TVE channels. Sometimes I can re-tune the channel immediately and it works fine, other times there's a problem with the network stream on the service end.

Any time I perform a full rescan I experience the same thing you see. Apparently, when you scan for that many channels all at once, not all the network TVE interfaces like that, so they kill authentication. When this happens, I usually wait an hour or two, or a day, and rescan those missing channels individually, and so far I've always gotten them back.

One important thing that I have adopted, never do a full rescan if you can help it due to what you are seeing. If there is a channel erroring out, try it again later and if the problem persists, provide a log and ask for help.

Hey Guys, thanks for the reply.

I've tried both single channel scan and full channel scans with no luck. Also tried restarting the whole PC for good measure and that didn't help.

This all started on Wednesday and figured it might be something on the either the ATT side or the channels themselves so would give it a couple days but nada.

I scanned a couple channels, here's the log

So I deleted the source and added it again. I've now dropped to 63 channels!

Good news is that i'm not getting that strange error anymore. Bad news is that i'm getting a new error: notAuthorized on almost all channels.

Login still works on their live stream page but nothing on the DVR. Tried deleting and adding again but still, no dice.

For what it's worth, i'm running CentOS 8.

I'm at a loss...

Figured out the issue.

Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was on Xfinity and using my brothers u-verse account for TVE on Channels DVR. It worked great! I probably should have led with that

I recently switched over to AT&T Fiber and it looks like they auto-log you in to streaming apps if you're within their network. I don't have a TV package of my own so it was failing. On my laptop, I can force it to use another account but only after trying my account first.

This worked for a while after switching over. I'm his guessing account info was cached?

If i deleted then added the source again using his account, it finds 63 channels which seem like default channels? Nothing of any real interest.

If I delete the source, VPN in, add the source using the same credentials, i'm back up to 153 channels streaming great.

I flipped through a bunch of channels, killed the VPN, and it appears to still be working. Let's see how long it lasts because i'm a big user of the remote feature.

Looks like channels can't force an account if AT&T is overriding? On my laptop, if I tell it to use another account, it'll save and won't prompt again.

Thanks again guys. Let me know if you have any questions on this adventure.

What you're seeing is called auto authentication. Sometimes in your account portal there's a setting to turn it off. I know xfinity has an option like that but not sure about ATT

I had a problem with all my TVE channels and auto authentication exactly a year ago(23 Oct 19) when I first got DVR server on windows 10. A quick change to the pre-release software got me up and running really quick. I have had NO issues with the TVE until about a month ago with the 6 Discovery channels not authenticating due to this auto authentication issue again as my server is on my internet only account and my home account has the Cox subscription service. All other 130 TVE channels authenticate and work perfectly. Are there any fixes or workarounds to get these 6 channels to rescan and authenticate correctly and not auto authenticate on my windows 10 DVR Server? Thanks...

To get around this, i had to sign up for a cheap VPN and use that on my server when I needed to a rescan. Once complete, i flipped through a few of my most frequent channels then disconnected.
Seems to work well and since my original post, i've only had to reconnect VPN to rescan once.

Thank you. This worked perfectly. Don’t know why I didn’t think of this!
