Suggestion: Auto re-record if episode was interrupted when originally recorded

I would like to suggest that the DVR automatically re-record an episode if it was interrupted, of course if a re-run is available. Thanks!

That’s definitely something on the list.

Could you watch it and let us know if you see any missing parts? Often we see these temporary glitches that cause less than a second of missing content. Often it isn’t perceptible (or falls during a commercial).

While often the "Interrupted" recordings are fine to watch, those that didn't record because of network or tuner issues have no material to watch; rescheduling those recordings would be even more beneficial than "interrupted" ones.

100% agree on this. Trying to think how that would work logically. You would have to change the “already been recorded” flag in the database, I assume. The tricky part would be re-queuing it, as re-runs would not be marked new any more so would not be picked up by a pass set to record new only. Perhaps automatically create a new hidden pass that only includes the specific episode Id.

I’m sure you guys have already thought this through and have an elegant solution planned. :sunglasses:

Part of what we've been doing recently is trying to do a better job of quantifying how much content is missed and why. Our first step is putting that in the UI so people have a way to understand what the source of an issue is if they play something and it messes up. Allowing people to understand what went wrong without having to contact support is helpful for everyone.

We are continuing to improve how we articulate these issues in the UI, but are also looking at ways we can improve the situation when it is because of a real recording issue.

I watched the episode (and it was really good by the way!), and unless it was part ofthe commercials which were skipped, I didn't see any interruption.

At any rate, it would still be good to re-record the episode even if there really wasn't an interruptions. If it states there was, I would want to avoid watching it until the re-run was fully recorded without issue.

It would also be useful to be able to remove the interrupted tag from a recording.
I have had plenty of “interrupted” recordings that play perfectly fine, and it would be good to remove the badge from recordings I intend to keep

The "interrupted" tag is purely informational at this time and we wouldn't automatically shows you've marked as "Keep Forever".
