Super Bowl and Tuner Sharing

Hosted a small Super Bowl party yesterday and had it streaming to two TVs (via appleTV) and one iPad throughout the house. All playing from antenna feed via HDHR and Channels. I had tuner sharing on all devices as I wanted to make sure they were all in sync. Unfortunately that didn’t work as expected, all were a fraction of a second off and tended to get worse as play continued (especially the iPad). I switched tuner sharing to off and that helped get them all aligned, and was able to finish out the game that way. I’ve got an M1 Mac Mini as my server so didn’t think it was a server issue. Wondering what others have found works best for keeping a live feed synced across multiple devices

That is almost impossible. Each streaming device has different processors as does the TV video/sound processors and the network itself. If you are using WiFi mesh, each satellite adds latency. Each switch adds latency in the wired network world. Your Ipad probably used a buffer to smooth out the video.

We are only talking fractions of a second but they all add up to create an echo and delay between devices.

If Channels multicast it would be possible. That's a lot of work for the developers and a small gain for the community. It would save some bandwidth yet will lead to a new type of problem that many would not understand
