I already have more than 10 mins waiting and the Guide data is not downloading (Activity; idle ). I restarted the DVR a couple of times but it is still Idle.
Is there any way to download the guide manually ?

Hi Guys…I’m having the same issue as @jowerg. I was able to get all my recordings and passes back but now I have no guide data. I stopped and started dvr twice but activity is showing idle. I checked the log and posted the error I saw below. My version number showing is 2017.01.18.0910.
Error from Log:
2017/01/18 02:25:56 [DVR] Error during search: cannot perform operation on empty alias
Looks like you need to trash the DVR lineup under each HDHomerun device and reload your OTA or cable subscription service information.
What is the process for a WD PR4100 NAS? Server crashed last night and it won’t respond. Rebooted NAS already, and turned the app off and back on.
As a follow up to this, these steps worked for me and my saved upcoming and pass recordings reloaded automatically.
I’m using an iMac BTW.
Ok, followed the instructrions below to disable the ports for my tuner’s. This did the trick. The app updated and was able to scan the network and add the tuners back in. Everything seems to be intact.
Cheers!
I had the same guide missing problem on a QNAP. I deleted and re-added the lineup and the guide started downloading. Thanks for the info Cpharada!
Call it coincidence, bad luck, or a nasty bug… but my rock solid, Mac Mini media server went south last night sometime between 8:00 CST and 10:00 CST, which seems to be in the DVR server upgrade window. It has a RAID 0 array, at least one drive failed, and requires a complete rebuild and restore from backup.
Sharing this simply as a data point experience for others, as well as the developers.
I restarted the server manually instead of with the command line. It lost all my record of my recordings in your database. But it allowed me to record a show last night (This is Us). Then I saw on the forums that I could run the uninstall/reinstall command and that “fixed” it so I now see my database I’ve recorded. But it’s missing the recording from last night that I did after I manually restarted the server! How can I add that recording to the current database?
There is no way to “merge” databases together. You can still watch the recording file via other means, but right now it’s not possible to add it back into the DVR database.
If you’re having issues with missing guide, you can also uncheck and recheck the DVR option.
the easier method worked for me [QNAP TS-453A]
thank you for finding the fix and solution in a timely manner. great support.
If anyone ended up reinstalling and lost their passes/recordings, let me know. In the latest version we have a way to easily restore all your data from backups.
Up & running here (QNAP TS-653 Pro) followed “Easy” method; all recordings intact and
guide downloading now; BTW, I had to re-instantiate the tuner settings with Cox-Digital as
the Guide that was recovered was wrong for my zip code…other than that a great recovery!
Thanx for speedy fix on this…
Here’s the Ultra Easy instructions to recover from the bad build.
Channels DVR auto updates when it starts up. So it’s just a matter of restarting your Channels DVR.
- Restart Channels DVR
1a. macOS: The server should restart itself.
1b. linux & NAS: reboot the computer or NAS.- Once Channels DVR is back up and running, it will auto update itself. If it doesn’t, click “Check for Updates”.
- Wait for the page to refresh and ensure the current version is atleast:
v2017.01.18.- Re-enable DVR in Settings with the checkbox to turn DVR back on.
- Everything should be back to normal.
After re-enabling DVR, your guide data will re-download. It may take some time before your scheduled recordings show up.
A few more bits of feedback for you -
I’m running the FreeNAS plugin. When I got home I noticed the app was missing DVR features and saw that the plugin was stopped so I started it up again and then found this thread when I came to the forums. After starting the service and logging into the web admin I checked the DVR option but nothing was scheduled after a minute or two. With my lack of patience I toggled DVR off and then back on and the server crashed. I started the plugin again in the FreeNAS interface and when it came up DVR was still checked and my recordings were now scheduled. I peeked at the log and saw some errors - potentially related to me causing it to crash again.
This is the last line in the log before showing the startup entry from me starting the plugin the second time:
2017/01/18 18:54:02 IO error: lock USA-OTA55426.airings/store/LOCK: already held by process
The guide can take up to an hour to download after the crash and you won’t see any jobs scheduled til it completes.
If you’re still seeing that LOCK error, make sure the server is completed stopped (run “ps aux | grep channels” to make sure no processes are running), then delete the lock file and start the DVR server again.
I am missing my favorite channels under OnNow in the web ui. The only option I see is ‘add some first’. How do I get my favorites channels back?
Also, all channels under guide are gone too.
Remove your DVR lineup with the trash icon and set it again. That will force guide data to be downloaded again.
Got it. Guide data is currently downloading. Thanks.
