Switch hops/latency for devices

Trying to decide what i want to do with a network run to back bedroom.
Run long single cable (have to buy one), 2 shorter cables with a coupler, or a switch in-between.
Is only about a 50ft run.

Is there any issues with CDVR devices, server, HDHR, clients, being a few network hops aways from each other, that is, a few switches away?

Or is it really important to have all devices on the same switch or as little hops as possible?

Atm, i have at least 2 switches between any device, not had any issues.
But, if i add a 3rd one, before a client, wonder if that would cause any notable performance difference or packet loss etc between client/server, HDHR.

I would say you don't have to worry. Technically it's always best to reduce points of failure and not couple cables together. So if it were me I would probably get the longer cable. However it will probably work just fine as long as your cables/rest of your gear is good

Switch hops are not an issue. Coupled cables are permissible with 5 or less connections. Your run can be up to 300 feet.
