I’m looking at upgrading my NAS and considering the Synology 920+. Would I run into issues using it as both a Plex and Channels DVR server? My other option would be to use an Nvidia Shield with attached USB drive. Ideally I’d like to have a single NAS for everything, but not if performance becomes an issue. Client devices are mostly wired.
Channels uses practically no resources except for transcoding (only used when streaming while away from home) and commercial indexing.
While plex can be more intense on resources, they will both work fine on that system together.

This is super helpful. Thanks everyone. After years of using a 216 Play, I've been considering a long overdue update to my NAS. I currently have it paired with an old Mac mini, but looking at a single NAS solution. I decided to upgrade to the DS1520+. Sounds like this will be a nice upgrade and one that will handle my Channels/Plex needs.
