I figured that. This is just going to be my Tivo replacement.
All my backup is off site cloud. But who knows, now that I understand more about the whole scene, I may indulge at some point.

I am very happy with my Synology 218+. It is able to decode 30 Gig 4k mkvs without a problem. It runs Channels flawlessly. Mine has two 6tb drives.

I have A synology 216+ and it works really well.
Get any synology plus like the Ds220+
You will also be able to backup all your devices seamlessly.
