I see that DSM 6.1 is now available. Has anyone tried it with the Channels DVR yet?
We tried the RC and it was fine.
Iām on the RC:
Iāll update now.
Hmm, it says Iām up to date.
DSM 6.1-15022 Update 1
Ya, word on the street is if you were running the betas, you need to upgrade manually. And I think the auto-updates must be rolling out gradually, as mine says Iām up to date with 6.0.2-8451 update 9.
But on the update part of the control panel, if you click the āSynology Websiteā link, it takes you to the download page where you can download 6.1 immediately. On my DS916+ it links here, where 6.1 is shown:
https://www.synology.com/en-us/support/download/DS916+
Looks like the current version is 6.1-15047.
Ah, I was curious if Iād have to manually get off of the beta train. Thanks!
FYI, Iām running 6.1 (release version) right now on a ds916+, so far so good. I did see the transcoder stop once watching live tv, but I canāt be certain of the sequence of events, so not positive if it was something weird that I did. I did notice this in the log around that time:
[mpegts @ 0x224dac0] H.264 bitstream malformed, no startcode found, use the video bitstream filter āh264_mp4toannexbā to fix it (ā-bsf:v h264_mp4toannexbā option with ffmpeg)
All seems well now, though - Iāve been watching the same channel live for 10 or 15 minutes now, and no issues at all.
I have a few recordings scheduled tonight - Iāll report back here if I see anything unexpected!
One cool thing I noticed, is that btrfs fast cloning is available now - so theoretically you can copy a file without actually making a whole new copy on disk (until one of the copies is changed). So presumably we could copy recordings around on the same volume (to the plex library folder, for example), without a disk space penalty.
