Does channels server play nicely for DSM 7.2.2 now synology have removed hevc codecs for transcoding
The codecs they removed were for their packages, like Video Station, not Channels DVR.

Plex had to release a special version for 7.2.2 due to the codecs being removed
From Synology release notes
Starting from this version, the processing of media files using HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264), and VC-1 codecs will be transitioned from the server to end devices to reduce unnecessary resource usage on the system and enhance system efficiency. These codecs are widespread on end devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs. If the end device does not support the required codecs, the use of media files may be limited.
I'm still using v7.2.1 and Channels uses hardware transcoding on my DS1019+.
Have you updated to v7.2.2?
Yeah transcoding works fine on my ds218+ running 7.2.1 but haven’t upgraded yet to 7.2.2 incase it broke channels so wanted to check with all developers and other users who had upgraded

I would think the /dev/dri device will still be there and that Channels will continue using it for hardware transcoding. Time will tell. Not sure how Plex hardware transcodes on Synology, but I see they had to update their Synology .pkg to get it to work on 7.2.2.
I'm still on v7.2.1. — the release notes also said no downgrade back if you install v7.2.2 (if I read it correctly).

It's not a forced mandatory update, but there are some security fixes in 7.2.2.
Just updated my DS1019+ to DSM v7.2.2. Took all of 5 minutes.
Hardware transcoding and deinterlacing is still working in Channels DVR.

Did you switch to use H265 ? Mine defaulted to H264
No, I never use HEVC (H.265).
It still does hardware transcode and deinterlace.
I would assume that Channels DVR uses its own version of ffmpeg for transcoding and so wouldn't be affected.
I don't use any of the Synology multimedia packages or apps, so I wasn't concerned about those.

DSM 7.22 is working great here. Channels seems to be working fine.
upgrading was super easy.
