Synology NAS - Deleting Recordings

I'm looking for advice on deleting recordings. My family loves to record programs especially single (no recording pass) shows. I periodically delete old recordings manually in the Channels Apple TV app, but it's a slow process. I'd like to delete shows in the Synology File Station if that would be faster. I've experimented with deleting shows and folders in Channels DVR > TV > [show name] folders, but they still show in Recordings in the Apple TV app after deletion. I feel like I'm missing something in the recordings' file structure on the Synology NAS.

Second question - Can you create shortcuts or scripts in Synology DSM to with enough logic to delete recordings based on the file's date modified? [edit] - I'm reviewing the Synology Task Scheduler info on their website.

I'm a retired DB Engineer and we never do any system procedures manually if we can help it....

You have to prune deleted.... which will put the recordings no longer found in trash ...

curl -XPUT http://127.0.0.1:8089/dvr/pruner/deleted

Or on the Web Page under General Maintennance ....

Channels DVR doesn't know that you deleted its recordings from outside of Channels DVR.
If you do that, you can prune deleted, so Channels DVR will remove them from its database.

In the DVR web UI go to Settings > General > Library Database > Maintenance :gear: > Manage Recordings Database
Missing/Deleted will show recordings in the database but not on disk and allow you to clear them all.

You don't want to do this blindly in case Channels DVR can't access your recordings for some reason (unmounted volumes, etc.)

When you delete something from inside Channels DVR, it goes into the Trash (like a recycle bin) and isn't deleted from the disk until the Trash is emptied.

The clients are known to have some sync issues, so what appears in the web UI isn't always what appears in the clients.

You can also view recordings from the web UI DVR > Manage and batch delete recordings from there.

The web UI is meant for admin work like that and most of the features will never be in the clients.
