Synology NAS DS718+ DSM 7.0.1-42218 and ChannelsDVR_1.1.0.spk Compatibility?

The install documentation for a fresh non-docker install of Channels DVR Server onto a Synology NAS with DSM 7.0.1-42218 only requires a manual package install of the spk file. Is it really that simple or are there any other pre-install requirement gotcha's?

It's that simple.
Just beware that Channels DVR will run as System Internal User channels
So if you add any Storage paths or local Import paths, make sure that user has permissions for the directories.

I would edit this page to include that note for DSM 7, but don't have edit rights there.

You mean new screenshots? If you add them here I'll update the page.

I just meant to add notes since it now runs as user channels instead of root.

Something like;

DSM 7
Note: Channels DVR runs as System Internal User channels. Before adding/changing a Storage Path or Local Content Import Path, ensure the user channels has permissions to those directory paths.

DSM 6
Note: Channels DVR runs as User root.

Good to know, thx for fyi!

Any chance the webpage Install Channels DVR Server on Synology can get the Install Notes updated for DSM 7?

nice catch, i just moved my channels from a DS1815+ DMS 6.x to DS918+ DSM 7. and was very surprised to see the ChannelsDVR shared folder (compared to DSM6 where it was only manageable via SSH). Thanks for waking me up to the system internal user group? - i see there is a service account for every service, hmm maybe i do like DSM7 after all, :slight_smile:
