T-Mobile “Binge On” program and channels

With the great new “stream anywhere” feature in Channels DVR, we might chew up a decent amount of bandwidth on our data plans. T-Mobile has a program for app developers called Binge On. It exempts apps in the program from counting against data plans. YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc all qualify and use it. Can you please get in touch with T-Mobile to try to get Channels approved too?

Unfortunately I think Binge On is only available to big content providers, presumably after they sign some sort of agreement with T-Mobile and maybe even subsidize some of the cost.

At the technical level, Binge On whitelists certain IP addresses and hostnames which serve video. This might work for an app like ABC which hosts its content on one set of servers, but our DVR software connects back to your home and T-Mobile isn’t going to want to whitelist each customer’s home IP individually.

Thanks for your response. Maybe reach out to them anyway and ask them if they can do something?

Lol
