Tablet control panel for Entertainment Centers

I'm trying to set up a single Android tablet as a home control screen with custom buttons, organized by room. Each room gets a "Watch TV" button that powers things up and opens Channels, and ideally a few buttons for favorite channels.

My setup:

  • Channels DVR Server on Windows 11
  • NVIDIA Shield TV Tube and Shield TV Pro
  • Several Fire TV Sticks and Fire TV built-in TVs
  • Samsung TVs, Denon AVR-S750H, HEOS speakers
  • HDMI-CEC works well: turning on the Shield brings up the TV and receiver

My questions:

  1. Has anyone built a tablet button panel that reliably launches Channels on both Shield and Fire TV? What did you use?
  2. Is anyone tuning favorite channels from a tablet without problems? Did you ever see a tune request hang or freeze a Shield?
  3. Has anyone used Channels App Remote Plus on Shield or Fire TV clients? How stable is it?

I'm looking for the simplest reliable setup, not another project. Any suggestions appreciated.

Channels App Remote Plus is a docker container that runs on your network as a remote control for some of the channels DVR functions. Hers are some images:

try sideloading tasker. I used to use it to launch channels on startup and resume. If you just want to have a channels dvr button on your remote try any button remapper app. note: button remapper wont work on fire tv. I also recommend a sofabaton u3 remote.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I am looking for a tablet solution that will also control my Samsung TV, Denon Receiver, ShieldTV and Firestricks.

I have the Sofabaton Remote and I do use button remapper.

I want a visual remove which is why I suggested a tablet.
