I can't seem to get my HDFX-4K to pass via TailScale. Using a TS4K. I am sure I am missing something simple. I am using a Qnap Server for Channels.
Thanks in advance for the assist.

You're probably not missing anything simple. Tailscale is at its best with devices where TS software can be installed directly. Since that's not possible with HDHomeRun devices, you'd need to configure one of your TS nodes on the remote end to be a subnet router, and then accept such routes on the local end.
Even if you were successful with that, there still might be challenges with the fact that discovery protocols don't work across subnets -- so you wouldn't be able to use any application that relies on mDNS or the like. On top of these issues, the typical stream from an HDHomeRun device is quite large, which makes it less than ideal to traverse the Internet.
Having said all this, I'm using an HDHomeRun remotely myself, and am quite happy with it. I'm also using Tailscale, but I have a Channels DVR server both remotely and locally. This allows for the remote server to easily access the remote HDHR and transcode the stream to travel via my Tailscale network.
Using a Custom Channels setup in my local CDVR, I can then add these remote channels to my local guide with an setup like this:
I don’t have any problems streaming atsc3 and atsc1 from my hdhr4k remote through channels and Tailscale. Are you able to stream other sources ok but not hdhr? Or is the hdhr your only source? After trying to tune and failure what do the logs say?
Well, like magic it started working. I think it was their DNS updating that caused the issues. Seeing good ATSC 1 across the wan. Getting 16 M across Tailscale. Thanks for the replies.
