Take recordings (with commercial skip) with me on the road

We have a QNAP setup at home and we travel a lot. Is there an easy way (ok, maybe not easy) to create a portable instance to take with us and still have commercial skip on the copied recordings? Maybe a Raspberry Pi with an external drive setup? I would like to stay 12V (or USB-C) for the solution as we travel off grid in a smaller camper.

As a side note, there are MANY times we have little to no connectivity, which is why I need it to be portable and not just a VPN solution back to home.

Thoughts?

What device do you plan to watch from

We have a 12v TV in the camper with HDMI inputs. We can connect a RPi, a tablet, an iPad or whatever to it as long as it is 12v or USB. We use a Google TV to stream and watch recorded movies off a 1TB USB hard drive connected to it.
