TCM stream freezing after 8 minutes: "Failure to open cache file" (SHIELD Server on Android 9)

Hi Everyone,
I was watching TCM via TVE last night and the channel would stream for almost exactly 8 minutes then the picture would 'freeze' until I exited to the guide then started the stream again. This is the log error from that time period:

On checking my DVR server, which is running on an NVIDIA SHIELD, I was greeted with a screen letting me know it had updated itself to Android 9 (pie) which I clicked through to proceed to the Android TV UI home screen. I have not had a chance to retry TCM since then but I have streamed my local antenna ABC station and Disney Jr. through the TVE tuner without the error. However, I thought it would be worth posting the error message anyone had seen anything similar to the stream "freeze" I had encountered and the associated failure to write the cache file. I am hoping that the issue was just that the USB drive hadn't fully mounted in read/write mode while the SHIELD was on the Android upgrade confirmation screen.

I will be testing TCM and additional channels more when I get home from work and will report back.

An "input/output error" from the USB drive is pretty suspect. It either means the drive was failing, or the OS was preventing access.

I think your theory about the upgrade screen makes sense. Would be very interesting to know if it happens again after the upgrade.

Yes, I will keep a lookout for similar errors. Just wanted post about it in case any SHIELD server users have the issue and didn't realize their device was sitting at a 'confirmation' screen after the pie upgrade.

My SHIELD is connected to my TV but all my clients are FireTVs so I rarely, if ever, use the SHIELD which is why I didn't realize it had updated to pie. The SHIELD has been the best Channels DVR Server I have used since everything just "works" and the app updates itself without any intervention. Thank you for supporting it as a server platform!

What provider are you using to get TCM with TVE? I'm using
You Tube TV and it won't register access..

I have TVE logins both with Spectrum and DirecTV, and they both authenticate with TCM

I am using DirecTV.

TVE: TCM (including CNN and others) works with PS Vue but NOT Hulu Live and DTVN (renamed to AT&T TV NOW),
