Wondering if it’s possible to have options beyond 15 extra minutes of recording. With all the potential delays, it isn’t going to be sufficient to still capture all of NFL football games.
There are more options if you edit the pass via the DVR web ui, up to 2 hours
If the maximum extended time on any pass type is 15 mins, then this is a bug.
I didn’t know that, Thanks! That’s a good workaround.
Is it possible to expose more options in the ATV UI?
There should be. 15 should not be the max. It may be a bug. I need to look at it.
Even after manually extending a recording it went back to 15mins on its own. I first scheduled it using a team pass and chose 15min (max) and then went to the individual recording and changed this weeks game to 120mins, but the recording ended up only being +15min and didn’t get the last bit of the game recorded.
This has been fixed and is in the beta that just went out. It should show up on the store in the next week or so following the tvOS/iOS 11 releases.
Indeed it was, and it works great! Thank you!
My AppleTV series pass options still do not offer extending the end time any more than 15 minutes but above it says this got fixed … what can I do to resolve this ?
Thanks
The fix above only applies to Team Passes, as noted in the title of the thread.
NThis was updated to include any Series that has Sport Events. For example, a Series Pass for NBA Basketball.
Regular Series Passes were not effected. Sports tend to need granularity at the high end. IE, 15, 30, 90 mins of end padding because they can run long and it’s impossible for them to keep to a scheduled end time. Regular shows have granularity at the low end. IE, 1,2, 5 mins of end padding because of some of the little tricks and sloppy programming some networks do.
Can you give an example of why you need more than 15 mins of end padding for a regularly scheduled series with a known duration?
Thanks!
Never had this issue myself, but you may need to extend time further on non-sports programs that regularly follow sports events like “60 Minutes” on Sundays during football season.
“Can you give an example of why you need more than 15 mins of end padding for a regularly scheduled series with a known duration?”
Every regular program that follows a sports program requiring any padding will require equal padding to assure it records fine. So Sunday sports on CBS that run over by an hour (happened several times over the past year football season) will impact each subsequent CBS program by the same amount, eg 60 minutes, Madam Secretary, etc …
Oh yeah, CBS, always with the CBS!!!
Thanks so much. We’ll work on making all of the options available to you. We try to balance options with simplicity, that’s how we got to the different options for sports/non sports. Giving people 12 options isn’t always the best call.
We’ll figure out how to make it more manageable though. Thanks!
