This is a joke, right?

This has to be a joke... there's no way it was this easy!

I just moved my Channels DVR instance from a dedicated Intel NUC, to a Docker instance on my Synology RS2818 NAS... and it took all of, oh, 3 minutes.

Seriously - downloaded the image, started the container, attached the DVR recordings volume and .... done. Apple TV clients just picked right up where they left off, like nothing happened.

Unbelievable. Seriously amazing coding; in my 25+ year IT career, I don't think I've ever migrated a service this easily.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is some tremendously well written and developed coding! Does everything it should do, and more importantly, nothing it shouldn't.

Can't say enough good things here. I'm simply stunned at how tremendous this is.

I was amazed at how seamless it was when I went from a Synology RS815+ to a RS1221+. Moved my 8 hard disks (had a RX415 expansion unit), set everything up in DSM, and things just worked with Channels. Nothing special needed. I've not had any problems whatsoever with stability.

If only I could get all my channels via TVE now. Still missing CNN, HLN, etc.

I just moved from a dedicated Pi image to an M1 mac mini - similarly easy and quick.

A few months ago I moved from a Tivo Bolt to an HTPC using Locast and a Tivo Stream 4k. Incredibly easy. Then Locast went down and I had to get a new HDHR tuner device. Again, very easy, the main problem figuring out how to get the channels setup the way I wanted. Much different than almost 20 years ago where you had to track down and map the TV HD channel assignments.

In addition to setup being easy, it's nice to be largely away from Tivo (the Tivo Stream is largely Android). Their Apple-like "my way or the highway" always made me felt hostage. For example, not being able to change the FF/REW jump times. Channels DVR not only allows that, but has separate settings for normal TV, sports and movies! Oh, and the annual cost of Channels DVR is less than Tivo.
