Timeline fadeout when paused

When watching a program, live or recorded, a timeline appears near the bottom of the screen, which allows you to scrub through the program. However, I often want to pause the program so I can read something (a phone number, a web address, the fine print on an advertisement, etc), and when paused, the timeline obscures the information I am trying to read. If the timeline could fade out after a few seconds, that wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks — smile

If you press "Up" on the remote, it will dismiss the timeline.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it doesn't work for me. I am using:

Apple TV 4K running tvOS 14.2 (18k57)
Channels 4.3.1

I'm also using the included Apple TV (Siri) remote. When paused, swiping up (and down) on the touchpad scrubs through the timeline. Pressing up (or anywhere) on the touchpad plays/pauses the program — smile

Just tap the Siri remote once

I feel like an idiot for not trying that sooner. Thank you for this — smile

It would be nice if the background was a bit more transparent so that if you are skipping through a show, especially something like ESPN where there's always some type of bar at the bottom of the screen you could see through it.

Wow, I came to the forum to ask this exact same issue. Glad to know the solution.
