"Highly recommended" sure, for a super low end hardware streaming device. You get what you pay for.
The TiVo Stream 4K, even de-bloated of all its tivo crap, is still very basic and just a turtle.
The only think i really liked about it, is the peanut remote.
(I can barely stand the sluggishness of the Nvidia Shield Tube model which cost so much more and is considered a high end streamer)
FWIW the Nvidia Shield was considered a “high end streamer” at one time but I’ve never heard the Tube model described that same way
It is literally the same hardware inside as the pro model. Same cpu and gpu. Same ram and internal storage flash memory, just a bit less of it.
The tivo and other budget streamers can not even push smooth 4K video at high bitrates. Also wifi only by default is a bottleneck.
The shield tube model seems to be sluggish when using a sd as internal storage, no matter how fast the card is.
The Tube is only 32 bit.
Yes. But that doesnt really mean anything far as i can tell. 32 vs 64 bit os is minimal real world difference when u have less than 4gb memory to use.
And i dare say those budget streamers also 32bit and have even lower memory.
The only positive things I can say about the Stream 4K is that it was kind of fun to play with and it led me to discovering Channels.

This is true. In fact I was using it as a 2nd remote for one of my ATVs until a few months ago when it stopped pairing via Bluetooth
