TiVo File Transfers

I read in an older post that a member was able to access his TiVo DVR with Channels DVR and it allowed him to view and play all of his recordings. It was an older, closed thread so I thought I'd ask the experts here... how'd he do that?

I tried using the "Personal Media" option, but no luck.

Our TiVos are on the same network as the Channels DVR.

TIA for any advice!

You can't do it directly. Only kmttg and pytivo (or ctivo) can do that and then you would have to add the directory that has the files to Channels

Thanks for the speedy reply and, good to know. I stopped using PyTivo and KMTTG to transfer shows to my Mac a few years back, but I'll try and resurrect them and give it a shot. I can still switch back to TiVo whenever I want to see those recordings, but there are a few I'd like to save before I decommission it.

Thank you again!

Similar boat. Have a lifetime Premiere that continues to run as a back up DVR. Zero cost as I have a second cablecard at no cost. Mainly a comfort blanket for my wife. There really isn't anything on the Tivo that I need though.
