Tivo Stream 4K Ethernet Connection - Speed to DVR Server?

I have ugreen USB A Ethernet adapter plugged into c port on ts4k. Max download is ~70 mbs. WiFi is ~300 mbs. Older Sony TV. Could TV HDMI port be the bottleneck?

No, the HDMI is irrelevant. The USB port is 2.0, so the best you'll see around 230Mbps with wired ethernet on the device.

70 MBS is more than enough to watch Channels recordings.

Yes. Would love to see that. I get less than a third of that theoretical maximum. Thanks for responding.

Yes, probably true. Just trying to figure out why I don't get closer to theoretical max. Some do. Thanks for responding.

  • Do you have the max 100Mbps model of the ethernet adapter? If so, it will never get faster than that, and you have to start subtracting from there.
  • Have you tried replacing the actual CAT-5 cord? It could still be functioning while losing efficiency.
  • How long is that CAT-5 run? Length can lower speed.
  • Is the adapter getting enough power? It just might not be able to draw enough power between the various connectors to get full speed. Probably nothing much you could do in this situation.
