"Today's Episodes" - Tokens/Variables In the Smart Rule Editor

I would like to create a virtual channel that only shows the current episodes for a predetermined time period. For example, today's episodes of my local news. This week's new episodes of my favorite shows. Are there currently any predefined tokens or variables that can be used in the Smart Rule Editor? i.e. %Today% %CurrentWeek% %CurrentMonth% or something of that nature? Can these suggestions be added as one of the options in the dropdown selection?

not that I'm aware of, but I'd like to do something similar.
I think you can achieve something like this with 'Collections', but that's an IOS thing i don't have, so I haven't looked to much into them.

the best I've come up with is setting up advanced passes for my ephemera shows like local news. I set it to keep 3, but it will not trash recordings until the next recording(s) is finished
so 3 local channels I sometimes have 6 available = 3 complete + 3 active recordings
