Transcode Question

I have been searching for days and can't find a direct answer to some of these transcoding questions, so I am going to just summarize them here hoping all of you can help.

I am new and currently have the DVR server setup on my home computer so I could test everything. I have finally received the approval of the boss (the wife) to drop DirecTV and switch to this (saving $80+ a month)! Now I am trying to determine what my permanent solution should be for DVR location. I think I am heavily leaning towards a Raspberry Pi, but the 1 away-from-home transcode stream at a time limitation is a little concerning, but that is where my questions come in because my concern may not be valid...

Will it transcode if:

  1. I am in the home watching on an official Channels DVR app?
  2. I am watching in a browser?
  3. I am away from home watching a TVE stream on the official Channels DVR app?
  4. I am away from home watching a HDHR stream on the official Channels DVR app?

I think the answers are no, yes, no, yes...

Will it still transcode the HDHR stream when I am away from home if I have the "Home Streaming", "Internet Streaming" and "Cellular Streaming" options all set to Original?

Also, are the above settings set for the individual device (Cell Phone, Tablet, AFTV, etc)?

Settings are per-client device. Original means no transcoding.

So, if I have those set to Original on my remote device, will it still transcode the HDHR stream while remote?

No it will not transcode if you set it to Original.
